           There is no denying the fact that e-foilers (and foilers in general) have a need to fly, and soar above the waters. The experience of being weightless is like no other, and a sensation that very often leads to an impulse to keep re-experiencing the total bliss of riding on a foil. This is the closest we humans have been able to come to feeling like a bird-species soaring at high speeds above the waters, and often at high speeds. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The novelty of these sensations and body-mastery that comes with it often brings a need to keep seeking out that same sense of stoke and personal power – almost like an addiction, what many indeed call an addiction to foiling. But this is a natural high, an oceanic sense of oneness with nature and the elements.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Yes – I love to fly on the foil, and I suspect that almost everybody else does as well. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But let’s not forget…. in order to fly, you need to know how to stay grounded as well. Grounded on the terra firma of the foil board. Grounded on your own feet, which support your ankles, which hold your calves and legs firmly in position. To get up on a foil board without a sense of grounding will almost always lead to back-stalling at best, and in most cases total loss of control resulting in a collision of force and water. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Staying grounded means trusting in your abilities to withstand the chop and remain balanced – remain quick-footed and centered. Sometimes you have to move if you want to stay centered. Tranquil alignment will sometimes require you to make quick, yet subtle, adjustments of your body’s power zones. That is the beauty of learning to fly, while staying grounded in your own bodily mass and senses. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Together – flight and stability, process and settlement – will allow you to soar to experiences only dreamt of before. This dance of seeming opposites is the dynamism of foiling. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           Welcome to the Stoked For Success watersports blog. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           My name is Dmitri Oster, and I am an avid watersports enthusiast, outdoors man, and practicing psychotherapist. The intention of this blog is to bring to its readers a novel, yet cogent, appreciation on the intersection of action sports (in particular, water sports) and good mental health.            Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarding is the fastest growing water sport in the USA, and most probably the world. Although this sport has become popularized in recent years as various Hawaiian-based water sports enthusiasts brought attention to its usage, SUP boarding has a very long history stretching all over the world.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           There are also many different applications of SUP boarding; including, SUP boarding on traditional flat water surfaces (lakes, rivers, inter-coastal’s) , SUP surfing, SUP foiling, SUP yoga, SUP racing, and even SUP long-range expeditions. One of the factors all those SUP disciplines have in common is a reliance and demand for balance – physical and emotional. Without being able to find your balance on a SUP board, there is going to be a lot of struggle and setback. And that is OK.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But what if you CAN find your balance? What if you actually take the time to get it right? What would that look like? What would that feel like? What would you likely end up telling yourself about your ability to tap into the quiet – focused – zone that allows you to walk, glide, stand, and surf over water?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           What would you walk away with? How would you be able to hold onto that momentous feeling of accomplishment in your everyday life – your personal and work life? My belief is that the benefits of learning to stand and walk on water with a SUP board would carry themselves over into other domains of life where you would benefit from calling on your abilities to find balance in the chop and turbulence, whenever needed.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is where you spot a convergence between finding the balance on a SUP board along with the balance in your life – when back to shore and on land. It has been said that the body keeps the score. Numerous books have been written on that subject and phraseology. If so… then let your body score in the direction of your own betterment and abilities. Let the body instruct the mind on the incredible feats that it is capable of. That it was possibly meant to remind you of.
          &#xD;
